Four dead, nine hurt in K-P rains


PESHAWAR:

At least four people have been killed and nine injured in rain-related incidents across Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

According to the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) the casualties occurred due to ongoing rains, hailstorms and lightning strikes between April 16 and 19.

In its report on the loss of life and property, the PDMA confirmed that the deceased included two men and two women. Among the injured were three men, four women and two children, all of whom are reported to be in stable condition at the hospital.

The report further noted that a total of 11 houses were partially damaged due to the rains and subsequent flash floods.

Rain-related accidents occurred in different districts of the province including Charsadda, Khyber, Shangla, Battagram, Chitral Lower, Swabi and Kolai Palace.

The PDMA has directed the concerned district administration to provide immediate assistance to the affected families and ensure the provision of best medical facilities to the injured.

The PDMA has directed all district administrations and relevant institutions to utilize all resources to reopen highways and roads blocked due to the rain.
