Kashmir Council hails COAS statement over Kashmir issue

MUZAFFARABAD:

Kashmir Council member Younas Mir has hailed the recent statement made by Chief of Army Staff General Syed Asim Munir regarding the Kashmir issue during the Overseas Convention held in Islamabad.

In his statement, Younas Mir said the army chief’s reaffirmation of Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people is a source of strength and reassurance for Kashmiris both at home and abroad. “His words reflect the deep-rooted commitment of our institutions to the just cause of Kashmir and the right to self-determination as enshrined in United Nations resolutions,” said Mir.

He pointed out that the army chief’s message had not only resonated with the diaspora community but also sent a clear signal to the international community about Pakistan’s principled stance on Jammu and Kashmir.

Mir appreciated the Pakistan Army leadership for consistently highlighting the plight of the Kashmiri people under occupation and for their efforts in keeping the issue alive on diplomatic forums.

“We are grateful for the leadership that continues to echo the voice of Kashmiris. The overseas Pakistanis stand united with our brothers and sisters in Kashmir and will continue to raise their voices globally,” Mir added.

Meanwhile, Mir concluded a significant diplomatic engagement in Oman along with prominent Pakistani community leaders Shaikh Syed Fayaz Ali Shah and Mian Riaz and held high-level meetings with the Ambassador of Pakistan to Oman and the Governor of Muscat.

During his visit Mir met with Imran Ali, Ambassador of Pakistan to Oman and discussed matters concerning the Pakistani diaspora, particularly the Kashmiri community in the Gulf region.

Both sides acknowledged the valuable contributions of overseas Pakistanis to national development and explored avenues for greater community engagement and support.

Mir also had the honour of meeting with Governor of Muscat Sheikh Saif bin Hameer Al Shukaili. The two leaders exchanged views on strengthening people-to-people relations, enhancing cultural ties, and fostering mutual cooperation between Kashmir and Oman in areas of shared interest.

Mir also addressed a gathering of community leaders and prominent members of the Pakistani and Kashmiri diaspora in Muscat, appreciating their continued efforts in promoting Pakistan’s image abroad and reaffirming the importance of unity among overseas Pakistanis.
