Blast at Darul Uloom Haqqania mosque in Nowshera leaves several injured

At least two people were martyred and around a dozen others injured, including Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani, chief of the (JUI-S),  in a suspected suicide blast at the Darul Uloom Haqqania in Akora Khattak area of Nowshera district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province.

The blast took place during Friday prayer timings at the mosque situated inside Darul Uloom Haqqania compound.

Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani, son of the slain Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Sami (JUI-S) leader Maulana Samiul Haq Haqqani, was critically injured in the attack, according to local media reports.

Haqqani was reportedly offering Friday prayers in the front row when the blast occurred.

Zulfiqar Hameed, Inspector General (IG) of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province told local news channels that at least two people were martyred and around a dozen others injured in the suspected suicide blast.

DPO Nowshera, Abdul Rashid, stated that rescue teams have arrived at the scene.
