KARACHI:

The ongoing strike by the Goods Transporters Association has severely disrupted commercial activity at both ports in Karachi.

According to the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FPCCI), the absence of heavy transport vehicles to pick up goods has not only affected the delivery of imported and exported items but also poses a serious risk to the national economy.

President of the Goods Transporters Association Tariq Gujjar stated that cargo handling at the ports and container terminals has been completely halted for the past 36 hours.

On average, 10,000 containers are transported daily between Karachi and other parts of the country. This movement has now come to a complete standstill.
