The light-hearted banter between Delhi Capitals star KL Rahul and mentor Kevin Pietersen continues to delight fans, with their latest exchange going viral.
During a training session at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the duo sparked laughter once again. As Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill stopped by to chat with Pietersen, the former England skipper jokingly asked Gill, “What does a mentor actually do?”, claiming he had no idea himself.
Standing nearby, Rahul seized the moment for a cheeky jab: “Apparently, taking a two-week Maldives vacation mid-season is part of it!”
The dig referred to Pietersen’s brief hiatus after DC’s win over Chennai Super Kings on April 5. The mentor had taken a personal trip to the Maldives, missing the April 10 match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru before rejoining the squad for their April 13 clash with Mumbai Indians.
The exchange, shared by Delhi Capitals’ official social media handle, quickly went viral, adding to the growing list of comedic moments between the two.
Whether it was Rahul reminding Pietersen of once likening his batting to “watching paint dry” or the cake-smashing birthday shenanigans, the camaraderie between the duo has become a fan-favorite storyline this IPL season.
Since joining the franchise ahead of IPL 2025, Rahul and Pietersen have struck up a strong rapport, one fans hope will help fuel Delhi’s push for a maiden IPL title.
