Shadab Khan breaks PSL record during win against Multan Sultans

Islamabad United skipper Shadab Khan dismissed Mohammad Rizwan during their win over Multan Sultans in the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

In doing so, Shadab became the first spinner in HBL PSL history to take 100 wickets, joining an elite list of bowlers. Playing in his 89th PSL match, the leg spinner became the fourth overall bowler to reach the landmark — and the first spinner to do so.

The 25-year-old joins a list led by Karachi Kings’ Hasan Ali, who has taken 118 wickets in 86 innings.

He is followed by Wahab Riaz (113) and Shaheen Shah Afridi (109), while United teammate Faheem Ashraf sits fifth with 79.

Most Wickets in PSL History:

  • Hasan Ali – 118 wickets (86 innings)

  • Wahab Riaz – 113 wickets (87 innings)

  • Shaheen Shah Afridi – 109 wickets (75 innings)

  • Shadab Khan – 100 wickets (89 innings)

  • Faheem Ashraf – 79 wickets (73 innings)

Shadab’s economical spell of 1/29 in three overs was instrumental in restricting Multan to 168/5 in 20 overs. He was supported by Mohammad Nawaz, Jason Holder and Riley Meredith, who took one wicket each.

Islamabad United ultimately held on to win their fifth consecutive match of the HBL PSL X and remain on top of the table.
