20th Century Studios has unveiled the teaser trailer for Predator: Badlands, the sixth film in the iconic action-sci-fi series. Directed by Dan Trachtenberg, known for his previous work on Prey, the film stars Elle Fanning in a dual role as twin sisters on the run from a deadly alien predator.
Trachtenberg, who helmed the critically acclaimed Prey, returns as director and co-writer for Badlands alongside Patrick Aison, the screenwriter of Prey. Prey was a major success, earning four Emmy nominations, including a win for Outstanding Sound Editing in 2024. Trachtenberg’s other notable work includes 10 Cloverfield Lane, as well as directing episodes of The Boys, Black Mirror, and The Lost Symbol.
Fanning, who stars in the lead role, has built a diverse career with memorable performances in The Great (where she portrayed Catherine the Great) and the upcoming Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown, in which she stars opposite Timothée Chalamet. Fanning’s previous credits include Maleficent, Super 8, The Neon Demon, and The Boxtrolls.
The Predator franchise began with the 1987 classic, directed by John McTiernan, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Carl Weathers. The original film became a box office hit, grossing nearly $100 million globally. Subsequent installments include Predator 2, Predators, and The Predator, with the titular alien also crossing over with the Alien franchise in several films.
Predator: Badlands is slated for release in theaters on November 7, 2025, and promises to bring the deadly extraterrestrial predator back to the big screen.
